Ostensibly, that's what must have happened as back-story for "Room Mates," director Herve Handsome's incredibly slick and delicious homage to space sharing. Those who cook together, fuck together, I suppose. Without a word of dialogue, these fifteen men seem to know that splitting the rent means open access to each other as well.
